The Position

The Web Specialist will support and manage web content development and maintenance for all of the Learning Policy Institute (LPI)’s online collateral, including the LPI website and Educator Preparation Laboratory (EdPrepLab), interactives, and online tools (e.g., Restarting and Reinventing School). The Web Specialist will also provide support for email campaign production (for LPI, LPI projects, and EdPrepLab), email list management, and other work as needed.

In collaboration with LPI’s Web Manager, the Web Specialist is responsible for content management and coordinating technical maintenance of all of LPI web properties. Working with outside contractors and internal research teams, this position will participate in content development and ensure fidelity to the site’s taxonomy and style guides. The Web Specialist will work within site platforms to implement SEO optimizations and make recommendations for technical and content improvements to existing and new sites. In addition, this position will collect, interpret, and report website analytics to ensure quality and support strategic improvements in content treatment and UX. This position will troubleshoot any problems under the direction of LPI’s Web Manager. They will be responsible for producing marketing emails using content provided by team researchers and conduct mailing list maintenance and upkeep.

Major Responsibilities

  • Participate in daily maintenance and content updates for website, ensuring that the site is fully functional.
  • Communicate with website maintenance vendors.
  • Conduct regular reviews of analytics to inform website decision making.
  • Provide strategic guidance and technical support as needed.
  • Document website processes.
  • Support content auditing and migration for new or redesigned websites.
  • Support the creation, development, and maintenance of web-based tools.
  • Format research content into email marking campaigns, ensuring content is error-free and user friendly.
  • Update and maintain mailing lists.

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will possess many of the following professional and personal abilities, attributes, and experiences:

  • Experience working with database-driven websites. Experience with Drupal and/or responsive web design best practices a plus.
  • Experience in using analytics and other tools (including A/B testing) to guide the evolution of an organization’s online presence.
  • Experience researching online behavior for demographic groups and knowledge of resources available to enhance data for micro-targeting.
  • Basic knowledge of HTML5.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, specifically:
    • Photoshop
    • Illustrator
    • Other
  • Effective written and verbal communicator.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer.
