Chandra L. Alston
Chandra L. Alston is a Senior Researcher at the Learning Policy Institute, where she specializes in designing and conducting qualitative and mixed methods research focused on educator quality. To date, her work has examined policies and practices that support secondary teachers’ and teacher educators’ work towards culturally responsive and sustaining literacy practices.
Prior to LPI, Alston was an assistant professor at North Carolina State University. She joined LPI with experience in multi-institutional, large-scale research on teaching quality and teacher education programs. Her research and passion for supporting and improving teacher quality stems from her time as a classroom teacher in Chapel Hill, NC.
Alston holds a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction from Stanford University and an MA in Teaching and BA in English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
