Breaking Up With Grades: Shifting Mindsets Toward Competency-Based Assessment and Reporting to Improve Learning

October 25, 2025; New Orleans, LA | This pre-conference workshop at the FullScale Symposium 2025 will help educators reimagine grading by exploring competency-based assessment models, developing personal assessment philosophies, and practicing strategies to communicate and lead change.

November 5–7, 2025; San Diego, CA | This 3-day immersive workshop designed and facilitated by High Tech High Graduate School of Education Professional Learning with the Habla Teacher Institute will engage educators in designing interdisciplinary, project-based learning experiences that integrate science, art, literature, and performance.

November 7–9, 2025; San Bruno, CA | The San Francisco Coalition of Essential Small Schools annual national convening will provide practioners the opportunity to share ideas on student achievement and school transofrmtion.


SITE VISIT

Oakland High School Site Visit

November 18, 2025, 8:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. PT; Oakland, CA | The Center for School and System Redesign and the California Partnership for the Future of Learning are hosting a site visit to Oakland High School in Oakland, California. The visit will feature examples of deeper learning in classrooms, the structures and processes staff and families used to redesign the school, and testimonies from students about their experiences.
