Brigid Barron

Brigid Barron is Professor of Education in the Graduate School of Education at Stanford University and a developmental psychologist. She co-leads the LIFE (Learning in Informal and Formal Environments) Center, a multi-institution NSF Science of Learning Center that seeks to develop and test principles about the social foundations of human learning in informal and formal environments with the goal of enhancing human learning from infancy to adulthood. She studies the processes of collaborative learning, specifically how individuals work together to create joint products and how what is learned and created is related to the quality of their interactions; she is currently conducting research on how digital technologies are changing the way young people learn, play, and socialize.
