Jal Mehta

Jal Mehta is a Professor of Education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. His primary research interest is in understanding what it would take to create high-quality schooling at scale, with a particular interest in the professionalization of teaching. Along with Sarah Fine, he co-authored In Search of Deeper Learning: The Quest to Remake the American High School, and won the 2020 Grawemeyer Award in Education for ideas set forth in the book. In 2014, he was awarded the Emerging Scholar Award by the Educational Change SIG of the American Educational Research Association that is presented to an individual or individuals who, within the first eight years of the post doctorate career as an educational scholar, have demonstrated a strong record of original and significant scholarship related to educational change.
