Julia Austin

Deputy Director of Communications

Julia Austin is the Deputy Director of Communications at the Learning Policy Institute. She coordinates production of LPI’s web, publication, and outreach efforts to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of LPI research and policy findings to a wide range of audiences.

Austin began her career creating marketing content for grassroots campaigns and nonprofits across a variety of fields, from health services to labor advocacy. Prior to joining LPI, she was a senior communications consultant at Hattaway Communications, where she advised nonprofits, foundations, and educational institutions on their strategies, messaging, and campaigns—including work with Stanford University, Consumer Reports, and the David and Lucile Packard Foundation.

Austin earned a B.A. in English Literature and German Language from Stony Brook University.
