The Whole Child Policy Table—a consortium of national research and policy partners—had been working for the past 5 years to support the understanding and implementation of research-based whole child policy approaches for states engaged in educational systems change grounded in the science of learning and development. To build on these efforts, they invited attendees to Transforming School Systems Through Whole Child State Strategies, a national convening in Washington, DC, on June 12 and 13, 2024. At this in-person, invitation-only event, state policymakers had the chance to learn about whole child policy and research, connect with peers, and engage in strategy sessions to identify and advance their whole child goals.

The Whole Child Policy Table supported the integration of whole child approaches into state education policy. The Table launched in 2019 and included the Learning Policy Institute, the Council of Chief State School Officers, National Association of State Boards of Education, National Conference of State Legislatures, National Governors Association, CASEL, Education Commission of the States, and other research and policy partners.

This event was made possible through the generous support of Harmony Academy at National University and the Wallace Foundation.
