Ivett Arellano

Policy Assistant

Ivett Arellano is a Policy Assistant at the Learning Policy Institute. She is a member of the Federal Policy Team where she supports policy and research advancements for diverse teacher recruitment and retention and improvements to assessment and accountability systems.

Before joining LPI, Arellano interned on the U.S. Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee for Senator Bernie Sanders and was the Lead Organizer at EmpowerEd, a grassroots non-profit aiming to improve teacher retention in Washington, D.C. Prior to working in education policy, Arellano was a Transitional Kindergarten instructional aide in Northern California. She leverages these experiences to advance her goal of humanizing education policy, fostering thriving school communities for both students and teachers.

Arellano holds an MA in Educational Transformation with a concentration in Advocacy and Policy from the Georgetown Graduate School of Arts & Sciences and a BA in Politics from Saint Mary’s College of California.
