Jennifer A. Bland

Jennifer A. Bland is a Senior Researcher at the Learning Policy Institute. Her current research spans several issue areas, including teacher preparation and teacher residencies; policies to support students experiencing homelessness; and the intersection between climate change and students, schools, and school systems. At LPI, Bland has co-led a suite of studies on the Texas teacher development system and teacher labor market, and she previously led LPI’s work on COVID-19 school health and safety. Over her career, she has co-authored numerous studies on teacher supply, demand, and distribution; teacher induction, development, evaluation, and compensation; school reform; and improving higher education access and outcomes for students from historically marginalized groups.
Before joining LPI, Bland worked as an education researcher at SRI International’s Center for Education Policy and subsequently as an independent consultant. Bland received a BA in Political Science from Stanford University and an MA in Education Policy, Organization, and Leadership Studies from the Stanford Graduate School of Education.
