Kevin Welner is a Professor of Education Policy and Law at the University of Colorado Boulder School of Education (CU Boulder). He is also the director of the National Education Policy Center, housed at CU Boulder. He is the author or editor of 20 books, including Schools of Opportunity: 10 Research-Based Models of Equity in Action (with Adam York & Linda Molner Kelley, 2023), The School Voucher Illusion: Exposing the Pretense of Equity (with Gary Orfield & Luis Huerta, 2023), and School’s Choice: How Charter Schools Control Access and Shape their Enrollment (with Wagma Mommandi, 2021). Welner has been recognized by the American Educational Research Association (AERA) as a Fellow and been given AERA’s Outstanding Public Communication of Education Research Award, Early Career Award, and Palmer O. Johnson Award.
