Steve Tozer is Professor Emeritus and past University Scholar in Educational Policy Studies at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC), where he was founding Director of the UIC Center for Urban Education Leadership. He chaired the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign; the Department of Educational Policy Studies at UIC; the Governor’s Council on Educator Quality in Illinois; and a Legislative Task Force establishing a new state principal certificate. He is lead author of School and Society, Historical and Contemporary Perspectives, 8th Edition (2020), and editor of The Handbook of Research in Social Foundations of Education (2011).
